Clyburn calls GOP budget an ‘April Fool’s Day’ joke

Republicans alternative plans submitted to counter President Obama’s budget is like an April Fool’s Day joke, House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.) said last night.

Appearing on Keith Olbermann’s MSNBC show, Clyburn said the GOP’s budget proposal cannot be taken seriously at all.

“I hate to say this, but you know, if I`m right, looking at my calendar, tomorrow is April 1st. It`s April Fool`s Day. And I think that that`s pretty much what you got,” Clyburn said. “This budget is a joke.”

“People saw what they did last week — and they`ve thrown together some numbers,” the third-ranking House Democrat continued. “So I don`t believe that you can take this budget seriously at all.”
