Congressman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), an increasingly vocal member of the Republican caucus, said that Republican National Committee Chair Michael Steele is “pro-choice” on Thursday even though Steele defended his opposition of abortion rights earlier in the day.
Ryan’s remarks, which took place on MSNBC, come after Steele told GQ magazine that he said a woman should have a “individual choice” to have an abortion.
Asked whether Steele’s remarks are a problem for the Republican Party, Ryan unequivocally said it was not.
