Specter May Try to Block Holder Vote

Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.), ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, told reporters Wednesday he may block a confirmation vote today on Attorney General nominee Eric Holder.

“I’m not ready to vote,” Specter said, but added that he plans to consult with other GOP senators during a policy lunch before making a final decision.

Specter said he is scheduled to meet with Holder on Thursday.

Specter and Holder crossed swords during last week’s confirmation hearing before the committee, as the Pennsylvania senator grilled Holder over his role in the 2001 Marc Rich case. At one point, Holder bristled and told Specter he was “crossing a line” by questioning his integrity.
