Coburn and Nelson Place Wager On BCS Title Game

Sens. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) and Bill Nelson (D-Fla.) will need their states’ college football teams to save them from embarrassment.

Coburn and Nelson agreed that senator who comes from the state whose school loses the college football national championship game should have to sing a song in public. If the University of Florida loses, Nelson will sing Coburn’s official state song, “Oklahoma!” If the University of Oklahoma loses, Coburn will sing “Rocket Man,” a reference to Nelson’s past career as an astronaut.

“It’s going to be a great game,” Nelson said. “I look forward to hearing Tom sing.”

The singer will perform at the victorious senator’s next constituent coffee.

Oklahoma and Florida play Thursday in Miami.
