Foley to Appear on ‘Today’ Show Wednesday?

Update Nov. 10, 12 p.m.: comment from WPTV added

Further evidence that former Congressman Mark Foley (R-Fla.) will appear on NBC’s “Today” show soon: NBC’s West Palm Beach, Fla. TV affiliate, WPTV, on Friday began promoting a long-awaited exclusive interview that will air on the show Wednesday, according to a report from TCPalm.com.

The station did not mention Foley’s name in its promotion, according to the report. The Hill has e-mailed the “Today” show, which has not yet responded. WPTV told The Hill in an e-mail that it has “not been promoting a Foley interview” on the show.

The Atlantic’s Marc Ambinder first reported Friday that Foley would appear on the morning show either Wednesday or the Wednesday after that, citing an anonymous Florida source close to Foley.

Foley bowed out of Congress in 2006 after the revelation of sexually graphic instant message communiques Foley had had with former male congressional pages. Foley had represented West Palm Beach since 1995; the “Today” show interview would be his first since the scandal, according to Ambinder.
