Reports: Police Nearing Chandra Levy Arrest

Police may be close to making an arrest in the case of Chandra Levy, a former Capitol Hill intern murdered in 2001.

Levy’s case attracted intense media attention in the summer of 2001 after then-Rep. Gary Condit (D-Calif.) admitted to having carried on an affair with the 24-year-old Levy.

According to media reports, police are seeking a warrant for the arrest of a suspect in the case, eight years after the crime is suspected to have occurred.

The Washington Post, in an investigative series on the cold case that ran last summer, suggested that an immigrant worker with a criminal record might have been responsible for the crime.
