Palin: Obama health plan is ‘downright evil’

In her first statement online since she left Alaska’s governorship, Sarah Palin called President Obama’s healthcare reform plan “downright evil.” The ex-governor continued that the government will form a “death panel” that would decide end-of-life issues.

“The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s ‘death panel’ so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their ‘level of productivity in society’ whether they are worthy of health care,” Palin said.

“Such a system is downright evil,” she added.

She asserted that the passage of the Democratic heath bill will lead to the rationing of care and loss of insurance coverage. Palin made her comments on Facebook, posting a note on her profile. Her message reached her nearly 700,000 supporters on the social networking site.

“As more Americans delve into the disturbing details of the nationalized health care plan that the current administration is rushing through Congress, our collective jaw is dropping, and we’re saying not just no, but hell no,” Palin exclaimed.

The charge that the Democratic health insurance reform plan will lead to euthanasia has elicited a strong response from President Obama and national Democrats.

Obama dedicated a sizeable portion of his weekly radio address to refuting the euthanasia claim, saying “That’s simply not true…The defenders of the status quo and political point-scorers in Washington are growing fiercer in their opposition.”
