Downtown Washington Flooded with People

Downtown Washington, D.C. has been flooded with inauguration-goers trying to get to the National Mall.

Outside the Metro Center station, crowds of several thousand extends nearly a block in each direction from entry gates to the Mall area. Few members of the gathered crowd know whether they’re waiting to get to the inaugural ceremonies or the ensuing parade.

The inauguration-goers periodically erupt into chants of “Obama” as network TV cameras turn toward them.
