Attorney General Michael Mukasey collapsed last night while delivering a speech at the Federalist Society’s annual dinner at the Mariott Wardman Park hotel in northwest Washington.
Mukasey was caught by men on stage after he began slurring his words and fell backward. He was reportedly rushed to George Washington University Hospital and was in “good spirits” by midnight, according to a spokesman.
President Bush called the attorney general before 7 a.m. this morning, according to White House spokeswoman Dana Perino, who said Mukasey “sounded well and is getting excellent care.”
