Ayers in D.C. Monday to Talk About Books

William Ayers, the former Weather Underground bomber whom Republicans tried to link to President-elect Barack Obama, will be in Washington, D.C., on Monday.

Ayers will talk about his latest two books about urban education at 6:30 p.m. at the All Souls Church in the Columbia Heights neighborhood, reports the Prince of Petworth. The location had to moved because of the interest over Ayers’s appearance.

Sen. John McCain’s (R-Ariz.) campaign suggested that Obama’s service with Ayers on a charity board and his willigness to attend a campaign event at Ayers’s house reflected Obama’s poor judgment. Ayers dismissed the Republicans’ attacks as “dishonest” in an interview last week on ABC.

Below is the description of Ayers’s event Monday:

William Ayers will sign and discuss his two books – City Kids, City Schools: More Reports from the Front Row – and its companion- City Kids, City Teachers: Reports from the Front Row. In these inspiring resources, William Ayers explores the surprising realities of city classrooms from kindergarten through high school. With its upbeat mix of ready-to-share city kids
