Release of Nazi Records Means Public Accessibility, Possible End to Insurance Abuse (Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen)

Although the first transfer of documents is a positive development, it is critical that all documents from the Nazi archive are delivered as soon as possible. This will enable researchers and family members to immediately begin studying the materials and allow us to learn more about this dark chapter of human history.

France, Italy and Greece have yet to ratify the treaty and I urge these governments to do so immediately. Holocaust survivors and relatives of victims have already waited too long for public disclosure of these records. We must continue to urge greater public accessibility to these vital documents.

We can never ease the pain and suffering of those who survived the Nazi atrocities, but we can end 60 years of injustice perpetrated against Holocaust survivors and their families by insurance companies.
