I was pleased earlier this week to sign on as an original cosponsor of Rep. Rush Holt’s Voter Confidence and Increased Accessibility Act, H.R. 811. This bill would require a voter-verified paper ballot for every vote cast, which would become the ballot of record in the event of any recount or audit.
The fact is, you can’t make electronic voting machines that are totally foolproof, and even if you could, the voters would continue to distrust them. We need to make sure that our elections are both totally fair, and are accepted as fair by the public. H.R. 811 will do that.
