GOP bill requires prison term for ObamaCare ID theft

Rep. George Holding (R-N.C.) has proposed legislation that would require federal officials and others who use ObamaCare data to commit identify theft to serve a five-year prison term.

{mosads}His No Identify Theft in Health Care Act, H.R. 3652, is yet another response to the troubled ObamaCare rollout. Over the last week, reports have surfaced quoting computer security experts who said HealthCare.gov has virtually no data security measures in place.

Under Holding’s bill, healthcare “navigators” or anyone else guilty of using ObamaCare data for an identify theft scheme would face prison time. Many bills amending criminal statutes set maximum prison sentences, but Holding’s proposal requires those terms to be five years, no more and no less.

Earlier in the week, Rep. Kerry Bentivolio (R-Mich.) proposed a bill that would prohibit any federal website from operating unless it is first certified as fully operational and includes adequate data protection.
