House panel to discuss spike in child immigrants

The House Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing next week on the 92 percent surge in illegal child immigrants coming across the Mexican border.

Debate over how to help the children and reduce the number of them crossing the border has implications for immigration reform and the 2015 budget process.

Meanwhile, the House Foreign Affairs Committee will debate the controversy over the exchange of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl for five Guantánamo Bay detainees.

A week after the House Armed Services Committee heard testimony from Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, the House Foreign Affairs Committee will hear testimony from a retired a retired Army specialist who served with Bergdahl.
