Administration officials will appear before the House Armed Services and Foreign Affairs Committees next week to make their case to about their strategy to fight Sunni militant group Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel will testify before the House Armed Services Committee on Thursday, while Secretary of State John Kerry will appear before the House Foreign Affairs Committee the same day.
{mosads}Also Thursday, the House Foreign Affairs Committee will hold a hearing on the influx of unaccompanied children crossing the border. Officials from the State Department and U.S. Agency for International Development are slated to testify.
The House Foreign Affairs Committee will have another high-profile hearing on Wednesday when it hears from Kent Brantly, an American doctor who survived the Ebola virus, as well as officials from the National Institutes of Health and Food and Drug Administration, about the threat of Ebola.
On Wednesday, the House Rules Committee will hear from members about proposed changes for the House’s standing rules for the 114th Congress. The House must approve its standing rules at the start of each Congress.
