House opens climactic week by…naming post offices

In its first votes of the week, the House voted to name 16 federal office buildings, including post offices, Veterans Affairs facilities and a U.S. Forest Service facility.

Fourteen of the bills to name the various buildings were passed by voice vote. Members voted 398-0 to name a Dublin, Calif. post office after James Kohnen and 396-0 to name a VA outpatient clinic after Pfc. Floyd K. Lindstrom in Colorado Springs, Colo.

{mosads}Each of the bills to designate the federal buildings received an average of 10 minutes of floor debate.

Despite the noncontroversial bills on tap for Tuesday, House Republicans will vote Thursday to elect a new majority leader and likely majority whip.
