Clawson sworn in as House member

Rep. Curt Clawson (R-Fla.) was sworn in as a member of Congress less than 24 hours after winning a special election.

Clawson replaces disgraced former Rep. Trey Radel (R-Fla.), who resigned in January after he was caught buying cocaine in Washington, D.C.

{mosads}A former Purdue University basketball player, Clawson secured endorsements from Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and former Rep. Connie Mack (R-Fla.), the district’s former representative.

“I start by bowing in humility to my God, hoping for wisdom and inspiration for a responsibility so big on my shoulders that we all share, of course,” Clawson said shortly after being sworn in on the House floor.

“I am committed to representing all of my constituents in a fair way,” Clawson said. “I’m so humbled and grateful to be here.”

The total number of House members now totals to 433, with two vacancies.
