House Republican joins calls for Ebola travel restrictions

Rep. Richard Hanna (R-N.Y.) called for implementing a temporary travel ban on West African countries afflicted by the Ebola outbreak.

“It is imperative that we take all necessary and appropriate measures to prevent this virus from spreading any further. We should not delay a temporary travel ban from affected West African countries,” Hanna said in a statement.

{mosads}A growing number of Republicans and Democrats have urged the Obama administration to issue a travel ban as a means of limiting Ebola’s spread in the U.S. But the Obama administration has said that such a ban would make it harder for healthcare workers to travel to West Africa.

Late Wednesday evening, Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) also urged the Obama administration to consider a travel ban.
