McCarthy: House will ‘fight’ administration’s energy regulations
House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) said Wednesday that the House will push back against the Obama administration’s energy rule-making.
McCarthy’s comments come in light of President Obama and Chinese President Xi Jinping announcing an agreement between the U.S. and China to limit greenhouse gas emissions.
{mosads}McCarthy suggested that the Obama administration had misinterpreted last week’s midterm election results of significant Republican gains in the House and GOP takeover of the Senate.
“The president appears to be undeterred by the American people’s clear repudiation of his policies of more regulations and higher energy costs,” McCarthy said in a statement.
The California Republican noted that the House will vote on legislation next week to require the Environmental Protection Agency to make public the scientific data used to justify its rule-making.
“The House will continue to fight this Administration’s cavalier approach of jamming through harmful regulations without regard to economic consequences,” McCarthy said. “Next week, the House will vote on the Secret Science Reform Act that makes the science behind new rules and regulations transparent and reproducible.”
