Schock staffers hit with subpoenas

Four former staffers for ex-Rep. Aaron Schock (R-Ill.) have been subpoenaed as part of a federal investigation into the former lawmaker.

A grand jury in the central district of Illinois is reviewing allegations that Schock misused taxpayer funds. It began its proceedings this month in Springfield.

{mosads}The staffers who received subpoenas are chief of staff Mark Roman, district chief of staff Dayne LaHood, district office manager Bryan Rudolph and executive assistant Sarah Rogers.

The four formally told the House on Tuesday that they had been served with subpoenas.

Schock resigned from the House on March 31 after reports of alleged improper spending were made public, including revelations that he used federal funds to decorate his office in the style of the PBS drama “Downton Abbey” and requested compensation for 170,000 miles on his personal car that only had 80,000 miles upon its sale.

House rules require congressional staff to report to the Speaker that they have been subpoenaed, which is read before the full House chamber.
