Monday: Nominations, Ex-Im

The Senate will vote on Lawrence Joseph Vilardo’s nomination to be a district judge for the Western District of New York.

Senators are expected to convene at 3 p.m., before voting on the nomination at 5:30 p.m.

{mosads}Lawmakers will also continue to debate the Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act (CISA) ahead of a slate of votes Tuesday.

The legislation — which is aimed at increasing information sharing between the government and businesses — has run into pushback from privacy advocates, including Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.).

But Republican leadership is confident that the legislation will be able to overcome remaining procedural hurdles, which would set up a final vote for Tuesday afternoon.

Meanwhile, House lawmakers are expected to vote on reauthorizing the charter of the Export-Import Bank, which lawmakers let expire earlier this year.

But the bank could face an uphill battle in the Senate, where Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is opposed to moving a stand-alone bill.

House lawmakers will also take up legislation to bolster federally backed research on dyslexia, with votes expected at 6:30 p.m.
