Reid tells GOP he hasn’t given up on grand deal to avoid sequester

Reid admitted that the sequester isn’t a perfect solution and that it was intended to be a “bitter pill,” in order to motivate lawmakers to come to an agreement.

“We’re willing to work, we’re willing to negotiate … and I think the Republicans should do the same,” Reid said. 

He said part of the problem was that Republicans weren’t willing to raise “even a penny of new revenue.” Reid said Democrats want a balanced approach and at least the sequester is that.

Reid also reminded the Republicans that they voted for the sequester.
