{mosads}Later in the week, members of the Armed Services Committee will hear from newly confirmed Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel. Senators are beginning work on the Defense Authorization Request for 2014. Hagel will testify Thursday about Pentagon budget needs.
On Thursday, Hagel will also speak to the situation in Syria. Some Republicans on the committee have argued that the U.S. should do more to aid Syrian rebels fighting against the violent regime of President Bashar Assad. Assad has killed thousands of his own people for protesting against him.
