Texas Senators bash Sebelius’ defense of ObamaCare

Texas Sens. John Cornyn (R) and Ted Cruz (R) criticized Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius after she visited Texas on Friday to defend President Obama’s healthcare law.

Sebelius urged San Antonians to disregard ObamaCare website horror stories and partisan bickering over the law, but Cornyn said she shouldn’t have wasted her time visiting the state.

{mosads}“If she’s still confused about who exactly she works for and if she hasn’t come ready to answer questions about why hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars have been wasted on a botched product, she might as well not visit,” Cornyn said.

Several Republicans have called on Sebelius to resign amid failures of the HealthCare.org website, where the uninsured are suppose to sign up for healthcare under the Affordable Care Act, also known as ObamaCare.

In her visit to San Antonio, Sebelius urged people to “sign up” and disregard reports of website failures. 

Cruz, an constant critic of the healthcare law, said no matter what the Obama administration does to sell the healthcare law, it is hurting American workers. 

“Due to Obamacare, Americans are losing their health insurance, they are seeing their premiums increase, and many are being forced into part time work,” Cruz said. “That won’t change with more salesmanship, a better website, or a temporary delay.”

Republicans argue that the healthcare law harms the U.S. economy and job creation because of employer mandates, while Democrats point out the law has already benefited those younger than 26 who can stay on their parents’ plan, people with preexisting conditions that cannot be denied coverage, and women who don’t have to pay for preventative care.
