Sen. Brown continues fight for US steel
Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) urged the Obama administration to use only U.S. steel for infrastructure and procurement projects.
“Manufacturing is a cornerstone of our economy and it’s making a comeback,” Brown said on Monday. “That’s why it’s so important to keep the momentum going, by enforcing trade policies that ensure our workers can compete on a level playing field.”
{mosads}Brown has accused South Korea of “illegally dumping” steel on the U.S. market, harming steel producers in his home state. He has asked trade regulators to stop that practice.
Brown has also introduced the Invest in American Jobs Act, which would ensure taxpayer dollars used in federal infrastructure projects buy U.S. steel.
“We should also pass my bill that would ensure that American infrastructure projects use American-made steel,” Brown said.
