Inhofe: Obama’s ‘failure’ helps ISIS

Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) blasted President Obama’s “inaction” as the reason the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has been able to grow.

“Until President Obama articulates and implements a comprehensive strategy against ISIS across Iraq and Syria, we will continue to see more savage executions, more killing of religious minorities, more humanitarian disasters like Mount Sinjar, and more enslavement and abuse of women and girls,” Inhofe said on Saturday. “Obama talks a big game but his actions tell a different story.”

{mosads}Inhofe’s comments came before news broke that ISIS gained control of a major military base in Syria. The Islamic militants also have control of large portions of land in Iraq.

Inhofe, who serves as ranking member on the Senate Armed Services Committee, said that if ISIS continues to make gains it will become a bigger threat to U.S. citizens.

“The president’s inaction over the last three years has allowed the rapid growth of ISIS, potentially the greatest terrorist threat to American citizens. Thousands of hardened fighters, including ever increasing numbers of foreign fighters with Western passports, are flocking to terrorist safe havens in Iraq and Syria and will return better trained, battle hardened, and internationally networked to spread terror in their home countries,” Inhofe said. “President Obama’s failure to acknowledge the reality of the threat has and will continue to endanger American lives.”

Inhofe also said his thoughts and prayers are with the family of U.S. journalist James Foley, who was beheaded by ISIS last week.
