Wednesday: CR, training Syrian rebels, more nominations
The House will debate the remaining three hours for the amendment to the continuing resolution (CR) to arm Syrian rebels to fight the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
Members debated the amendment for about three hours Tuesday afternoon.
{mosads}Upon conclusion of floor debate, the House will take votes on the amendment and underlying stopgap funding bill.
The Senate will start at 10 a.m. and will continue to kill time by clearing several of President Obama’s nominations.
The Senate is waiting for the House to complete work on the CR before it can vote on the measure.
At noon, the Senate will vote to confirm the following nominations:
– John Bass to be U.S. ambassador to Turkey.
– Eric Schultz to be U.S. ambassador to Zambia.
– Thomas Daughton to be U.S. ambassador to Namibia.
– David Pressman to be alternate U.S. representative for Special Political Affairs in the United Nations and to the General Assembly of the United Nations.
– Debra Wada to be an assistant secretary of the Army.
– Laura Wertheimer to be inspector general of the Federal Housing Finance Agency.
– Bradford Huther to be chief financial officer at the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
