Grassley blasts Obama’s treatment of whistleblowers

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) chided President Obama for his administration’s treatment of whistleblowers.

Grassley said more than 10 whistleblowers within the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) have come forward and said their managers are using Loss of Effectiveness orders to retaliate for speaking up about wrongdoing in the agency.

{mosads}“Every time we bring this to the administration’s attention, more whistleblowers come forward,” Grassley said on Wednesday. “These whistleblowers never have the opportunity to make their case.  It’s stereotypical treatment of whistleblowers for the executive branch.”

Grassley called for a more transparent system so that the use of Loss of Effectiveness orders can be reviewed. Currently, employees aren’t able to appeal the order.

Grassley has been critical of FBI Director James Comey’s handling of the incidents and has asked for investigations.
