Senate passes bill to limit airline security fees

The Senate passed a bill Thursday that limits airline security fees.

H.R. 5462 was passed through a unanimous consent agreement. The bill revises passenger airline security fee requirements to limit per-roundtrip fees to $11.20.

{mosads}The Senate also passed the Honor Flight Act, H.R. 4812, which would direct the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to establish an expedited passenger screening process for veterans traveling on an Honor Flight Network private charter to visit war memorials.

The House passed both bills this summer, meaning they now head to President Obama’s desk for his signature before becoming law.

Several housekeeping bills were passed through unanimous consent agreements before the Senate adjourned for the week:

– S. 1683 allows the transfer of naval vessels to foreign recipients.

– H.R. 5108 establishes the Law School Clinic Certification Program within the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

– S. 1447, the Navajo Water Settlement Technical Corrections Act, establishes a fund for reconstruction of water infrastructure.

– H.R. 2366 requires the Treasury secretary to mint a coin marking the centennial of World War I.
