Senate passes bill for airline employees seeking retirement benefits

The Senate passed a bill Wednesday that helps airline employees receive retirement funds from companies that have gone bankrupt.

{mosads}Sen. James Inhofe’s (R-Okla.) bill passed through a unanimous consent agreement.

S. 2614 amends the FAA Modernization and Reform Act’s language on individual retirement account (IRA) payments to airline employees in commercial airline carrier bankruptcy cases.

The bill extends the claim filing period through April 15, 2015 but limits those who qualify to people who worked for airlines company that’s assets were frozen after Nov. 1, 2012.

The bill now heads to the House for further action.
