Sen. Tom Cotton announces birth of son
Sen. Tom Cotton announced Tuesday that his wife, Anna, gave birth to a baby boy, making the freshman senator a first-time dad.
The Arkansas Republican announced the addition to his family over Twitter, saying he and his wife “welcomed baby boy Cotton to the world” on Monday night.
Happy to report Anna and I welcomed baby boy Cotton to the world last night! Mom and baby are healthy and happy. We are so blessed.

{mosads}The Associated Press reports the baby, which weighs 8 pounds and 4 ounces, was born in Washington.
Cotton said last week that he would likely miss some of the debate this week on a bill to let lawmakers weigh in on a final Iran nuclear deal. The senator, who is offering changes to the Iran legislation, said he would not let his son “live under the threat of a nuclear Iran.”
