Hatch touts senior position on powerful committee as reason for reelection
“We intend to win because I’m going to be chairman of that finance committee,” added Hatch.
Hatch will become the chairman of that committee if Republicans take over the upper chamber and his is reelected to a seventh term in the Senate.
“It’s the most powerful committee in the whole Congress,” Hatch explained. “If we’re going to get this country under control it’s going to come from that committee.”
Hatch could face challenges from Chaffetz as well as Democrat Rep. Jim Matheson (Utah) in the general election.
