Teenage girls go gaga for Grimm

A group of teenage girls are apparently gaga for Rep. Michael Grimm, according to a series of Twitter posts ahead of a Sweet Sixteen birthday bash attended by the embattled New York Republican.

Grimm was one of the guests at the birthday festivities last weekend, according to Business Insider. In tweets captured by the news website, a gaggle of teens appear to be excited about the prospect of the congressman attending the shindig.

{mosads}“I’m gonna dance with him all night and make him fall in love with me,” one of the messages, which have been deleted, said. Another Twitter user remarked, “Now I have to wear nice underwear.”

Grimm’s office told Business Insider that the lawmaker, 44, has a personal relationship with the family behind the party and “was invited by the parents to attend and wish their daughter a happy birthday.”

The identities of all the teens are redacted in the report. In one of the since-deleted tweets, a teen reportedly wrote, “He told me he’s taking me to prom I was like you fricking better.”

Grimm, a former FBI agent, was indicted in April on 20 federal criminal counts, ranging from mail and tax fraud to perjury. National Republicans have all but abandoned his bid, and he faces an uphill reelection fight in his swing Staten Island-based district against former New York City Councilman Domenic Recchia (D).
