Bieber dares Obama to participate in ice bucket challenge

Justin Bieber has a dare for President Obama, nominating the commander in chief to be the latest participant in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.

In a video posted over the weekend on his Instagram page, the 20-year-old tattooed “Beauty and the Beat” singer is seen in a white tank top and shorts, holding a large pot.

{mosads}“Alright, Scooter,” Bieber says, referring to his manager, Scooter Braun.

“I accept your ice bucket challenge. Now I nominate Ellen [DeGeneres], Barack Obama, who else? [Comedian] Chris D’Elia,” he declares. He then proceeds to tip the icy aqua over his head.

The so-called ice bucket challenge raises money and awareness for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a fatal neurodegenerative disease, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Volunteers capture video of themselves either participating in the challenge by getting a ice water-filled bucket dumped on their heads or making a donation to an ALS charity.

President Obama has already declined previous attempts to get him to take on the icy challenge. After Ethel Kennedy nominated him, a White House spokesman told The Hill last week, “The President appreciates Mrs. Kennedy thinking of him for the challenge — though his contribution to this effort will be monetary.”
