Authorities in Alaska say they won’t press charges after an alleged fight involving Sarah Palin’s family, but a police report released Thursday is shedding light on the brawl that one witness likened to an episode of “Jerry Springer.”
An officer notes in the report that when he responded to the scene of a birthday party in September, he witnessed a shirtless Track Palin, the son of the former GOP vice presidential candidate, getting into a long, white limousine.
{mosads}“I saw that he did not have a shirt on and there was blood around his mouth and on his hands and he appeared to have an injury under his left eye,” the officer reports.
Although Sarah Palin’s son “appeared heavily intoxicated” and “acted belligerent at first,” the officer says the former Alaska governor urged her son to cooperate: “I was able to get him to step out of the car and a female, who turned out to be his mother, told him to talk to me.”
According to the report, Track Palin said guests “were talking rudely to his sisters” and someone “sucker punched” him as the family was attempting to leave the event.
Willow, the third born of Palin’s five children, told police that another partygoer “assaulted her sister Bristol and that several guys were on top of her sister when she was on the ground.”
The police report says, “[Willow Palin] alleged that an older lady pushed her and that people were saying things like ‘F–k the Palins.’”
Another witness claims that daughter Bristol hit the owner of the home where the party was taking place “about five times.” According to the police report, “[The witness] said he never hit her back and was pushing her arms down when [Bristol] tried to hit him.”
Sarah Palin didn’t respond directly when reports of the dustup first surfaced. But shortly after news of the fight made headlines, Palin posted on her Facebook page, “I love my Bristol! My straight-shooter is one of the strongest young women you’ll ever meet.”
Palin added, “I have to say this as a proud mama: right up there with their work ethic and heart for those less fortunate, my kids’ defense of family makes my heart soar!”
An alleged eye witness had earlier claimed that John McCain’s former running mate had herself joined the fray.
“I heard Sarah Palin yell, ‘Do you know who I am?’ All of us could not believe it. We thought we were watching an episode of ‘Jerry Springer,’” the man told ABC News.
