Mark Cuban praises Trump: ‘The best thing to happen to politics in a long time’

Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks and a maverick in his own right, has strong words of praise for fellow billionaire businessman Donald Trump just weeks after calling the GOP presidential candidate a “Paper Tiger.”

“I have to honestly say he is probably the best thing to happen to politics in a long time,” Cuban said in a statement on his own Cyber Dust app.

{mosads}“I don’t care what his actual positions are, I don’t care if he says the wrong thing,” Cuban continues. “He says what’s on his mind. He gives honest answers rather than prepared answers. This is more important than anything any candidate has done in years.”

Cuban struck a decidedly less enthusiastic tone earlier this month when he used his app to call Trump out for “bragging” about his net worth — a number Cuban seemed to believe was inflated.

“It’s very possible that he doesn’t have the cash himself and has bragged himself into a position where he can’t afford the cash it takes to run for President,” Cuban wrote.

Today’s encomium, however, put Cuban unequivocally on Team Trump:

Up until Trump announced his candidacy the conventional wisdom was that you had to be a professional politician in order to run You had to have a background that was politically scrubbed. In other words, smart people who didn’t live perfect lives could never run. Smart people who didn’t want their families put under the media spotlight wouldn’t run. The Donald is changing all of that. He has changed the game and for that he deserves a lot of credit.
