Clinton on wig question: ‘Would I have paid for this?’
Hillary Clinton says she recently had to promise a supporter that she doesn’t wear a wig, joking that she could buy nicer looking hair.
Appearing on “Live! With Kelly and Michael” on Thursday, the Democratic presidential front-runner told co-hosts Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan about an encounter she had while shaking hands with a man at a rally in Texas.
{mosads}“Sometimes people, they usually look you in the eye, or they say something, or they say, ‘Can I have a selfie?’ And he was just like staring at me. And I realized he’s, like, staring at my hair,” Clinton said.
“He goes, ‘Is that a wig?’ And I go, ‘No, really it isn’t. I promise you, it’s isn’t.’”
In an interview last week, GOP White House hopeful Donald Trump questioned whether Clinton was sporting a wig following a series of tweets from Drudge Report founder Matt Drudge.
“Is that a wig?” the real estate mogul asked radio host Mark Levin before calling Clinton’s hair “massive.”
“Some days I feel like saying, ‘Would I have paid for this?’” Clinton said Thursday while pointing to her blonde ‘do, before letting out a big laugh.
The former secretary of State also weighed in on Trump during her “Live!” appearance. While saying he takes on a “bullying kind of rhetoric,” Clinton declared she’d be pleased “on one ground” if Trump was to become the Republican nominee.
“I would not be the only person whose hairstyle was a topic of conversation,” Clinton quipped of Trump, whose own coiffure has long been subjected to intense scrutiny.
