JJ Abrams: Hillary ‘the strongest candidate’

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” director J.J. Abrams says he’s backing Hillary Clinton’s White House bid because he believes “in her as the strongest candidate.”

“She does have the experience and the politics. She is compassionate, and right,” Abrams tells The Daily Beast in an interview published Monday.

{mosads}“When I look at the people who need the support that aren’t necessarily getting it, I believe that she would provide that,” says Abrams. “That is really the way that we have to approach how we vote: look around and ask yourself, who needs to be brought up? Who needs to be emphasized? Who needs compassion?”

The 49-year-old Hollywood bigwig continues, “And I find that that’s something that she’s got.”

Abrams and his wife, Katie McGrath, donated $1 million to a pro-Clinton super PAC in 2015, and hosted an ultra-exclusive Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee fundraiser last October.

Clinton paid homage to Abrams’ blockbuster film during a Democratic presidential debate last month, saying in her closing statement, “Thank you, goodnight, and may the force be with you.”
