Johnny Depp stars as Trump in 50-minute ‘Art of the Deal’ spoof
The day after his sweeping victory in the New Hampshire primary, Donald Trump is getting the Hollywood treatment from star Johnny Depp and director Ron Howard — but on the comedy website Funny or Die.
The site on Wednesday released a 50-minute faux television adaptation of Trump’s bestselling book, “The Art of the Deal.”
{mosads}Oscar-winner Howard directed Depp as the eccentric real-estate mogul at the peak of his business career, brokering deals and breaking hearts.
Funny or Die co-founder Adam McKay said the movie was released to coincide with Trump’s first-place finish in New Hampshire.
“It was a crazy, completely nuts idea that somehow we pulled off,” McKay told The New York Times, adding that they had to keep the movie a secret for several months.
It opens with a shot of Howard in the director’s chair, who explains that the movie was originally filmed three decades ago, but was bumped after a football game went into overtime and was “thought to be lost in the Cybill Shepherd blouse fire of 1989.”
In addition to Depp, the movie features a star-studded cast, including Alfred Molina, Robert Morse and Patton Oswalt.
