Clinton to sit down with Colbert on eve of NY primary
Hillary Clinton is the latest 2016 White House hopeful to make the rounds on the New York-based late-night talk shows — set for “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” — in the final stretch before the state’s primary.
{mosads}The Democratic presidential front-runner will sit down with Colbert on Monday, CBS announced Thursday. The appearance may be an attempt to elicit late-night laughs on the eve of Empire State’s April 19 primary.
Several of the presidential candidates have hit the late-night circuit in recent weeks. Clinton’s rival for the Democratic nomination, Bernie Sanders, appeared on Comedy Central’s “The Nightly Show” on Wednesday, while GOP candidates Ted Cruz and John Kasich are Thursday night guests on NBC’s “Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” and “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” respectively.
While Clinton’s the only real-life politician booked on Colbert’s show next week, other fictional ones are also poised to yuck it up with the TV funnyman.
Kevin Spacey, who plays Netflix’s conniving President Frank Underwood on “House of Cards,” is slated for a Tuesday appearance, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus, known as President Selina Meyer on HBO’s “Veep,” is scheduled to be a guest on Colbert’s show on April 22.
