Ronan Farrow joining MSNBC as host

{mosads}The cable news outlet announced Wednesday that Farrow’s one-hour weekday program will launch in early 2014. Talk that Farrow was in negotiations with the channel had been brewing for weeks, and MSNBC disclosed in a press release the project had been in development for months.

The 25-year-old Oxford University grad previously handled foreign policy in the first Obama administration and worked as a speechwriter for the late Ambassador Richard Holbrooke.

In a statement, MSNBC President Phil Griffin called Farrow’s upcoming show “a game changer” for the network.

Farrow made headlines earlier this month after his mother suggested that Frank Sinatra might “possibly” be his father, rather than Allen.

Farrow, who’s known for his quick wit on Twitter, wrote at the time to his more than 134,000 followers: “Listen, we’re all *possibly* Frank Sinatra’s son.”

Farrow said in a news release about his joining MSNBC, “I’m excited to shake up people’s expectations for cable news. And to get a ton of Twitter followers.”

Farrow isn’t the first MSNBC host with a Hollywood connection — Alec Baldwin‘s new weekly talk show debuted over the weekend.
