California Sen. Kamala Harris (D) celebrated the Golden State Warriors’ victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers with beer delivered to her by Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown (D), who lost a bet with Harris over which team would win the NBA championship last week.
Clad in a Golden State jersey, Brown delivered the beer to Harris’s office Tuesday, but not without cracking some jokes about why the Warriors won.
“Maybe you can have Kevin Durant drink this beer,” Brown said, “since there’s no way you would have won the playoffs without Kevin Durant.”
{mosads}The remark draws boos from Harris’s assembled staffers.
Durant joined the Warriors this season, the third consecutive year Golden State has played Cleveland in the NBA Finals.
“There’s some bitterness in my voice,” Brown jokes. “And I would add, if Draymond Green was nearby when I said that, he’d probably be called for a technical, because he would’ve gotten mad.”
Harris, laughing, said Brown “looks great” in his Golden State jersey, which he was wearing with a matching cap.
The two Democrats had agreed to fork over some locally brewed beer to whoever’s team won the finals.
