Colbert to produce animated show about Trump
Late-night host Stephen Colbert will produce an animated cartoon about President Trump set to air on Showtime this fall, Variety reported Thursday.
The show will span 10 episodes and will be produced close to the premiere date to be able to stay relevant to current events, according to Variety. Meant to show “tru-ish” situations for the president and his family and other White House staffers, the show will explore what makes the president’s actions “Trumpian.”
{mosads}The show will present “tru-ish adventures of Trump’s confidants and bon vivants — family, top associates, heads of government, golf pros, and anyone else straying into his orbit — intrepidly exploring their histories and their psyches, revealing insights into what makes them so definitively Trumpian,” Variety reported.
Colbert said the show will offer viewers a glimpse into “the man behind the MAGA” — an acronym for Trump’s campaign slogan, Make America Great Again.
“I’m honored that the Cartoon President invited our documentary crew into his private world. I’ve seen some of the footage, and I look forward to sharing the man behind the MAGA,” he said.
“It’s a workplace comedy where the office happens to be oval; it’s a character study in search of character, as seen through the eyes of an imaginary documentary crew,” according to Showtime.
