Kimmel rips into Trump: ‘Overcompensating’ for Strange, health care defeats

Jimmy Kimmel tore into President Trump Wednesday night, saying it’s been a “bad week” for the president after the Graham-Cassidy health-care bill failed to come to a vote.

The late-night host mocked Trump’s tweet Wednesday morning, when the president claimed, “Virtually no president has accomplished what we have accomplished in the first nine months.”

“He’s right, no president has ever accomplished what he’s accomplished,” Kimmel said. “After nine short months, we have more nuclear weapons pointed at us than ever before.”

{mosads}Kimmel, who has been a key voice in the public debate on repealing ObamaCare, said the tweet indicates that Trump is “overcompensating a bit” for the failure of the GOP’s repeal efforts and the loss of Sen. Luther Strange (R), the candidate Trump supported, in the Alabama Senate primary runoff.

“He’s not one to admit defeat,” Kimmel said, “He was full of both B and S today at the White House.”

After GOP leaders nixed the possibility of a vote on Graham-Cassidy this week, Trump told reporters Wednesday that they “have the votes” to pass health care, but one senator was hospitalized.

The senator, Republican Thad Cochran of Mississippi, tweeted later that he was not hospitalized, but recovering at home.
