The Emmy Awards announced Monday that Kevin Spacey will no longer be honored with the 2017 International Emmy Founders Award after facing accusations of sexual harassment.
“The International Academy has announced that in light of recent events it will not honor Kevin Spacey with the 2017 Intl Emmy Founders Award,” read a tweet from the International Emmy Awards account.
Actor Anthony Rapp accused Spacey of making a sexual advance at him in 1986, when Rapp was 14 and Spacey was 26.

Spacey apologized, saying he is “beyond horrified to hear” Rapp’s account and that he did not remember the incident, but has faced backlash for using his apology to come out as gay, a move many say is an attempt to deflect from predatory behavior.
Netflix announced Monday that Spacey’s hit show, “House of Cards,” would not be renewed for a seventh season.
Spacey was set to receive the award next month at the International Emmys, an honor that has typically been given to directors and producers like Steven Spielberg and Shonda Rhimes.
