A Netflix executive reportedly said that he and others at the company do not believe the women who have accused actor Danny Masterson of rape.
Andy Yeatman, director of global kids content at Netflix, made the comments while speaking directly to one of the women who said Masterson raped her, though Netflix said he didn’t know at the time that she was one of the accusers, according to HuffPost.
The woman reportedly approached Yeatman at a kids’ soccer game, where her husband was coaching one of the teams and Yeatman was coaching the other, to ask why the company had not taken action against Masterson, who stars in the Netflix original series “The Ranch.”
{mosads}The woman told HuffPost that Yeatman told her that the company takes sexual assault allegations seriously, but “we don’t believe” Masterson’s accusers. The woman then identified herself as one of the accusers. HuffPost confirmed the account with a witness.
Netflix confirmed that Yeatman made the comments, according to HuffPost, calling them “careless” and “uninformed.”
Four women have accused Masterson of rape, including one who dated Masterson and claimed he raped her while she was unconscious. A publicist for Masterson said last month that because the two were dating, “there’s no story there.”
The allegations against Masterson are the subject of a criminal investigation.
