Trevor Noah on Trump-Bannon feud: Trump just found out some Nazis aren’t ‘very fine people’

Trevor Noah on Wednesday night took aim at the feud between President Trump and his former chief strategist Stephen Bannon, joking that Trump always knew Bannon is a “Nazi.”

The late-night comedian joked that he feels “bad” for Trump after excerpts were published from an explosive new book in which Bannon is quoted as saying that Trump’s son’s 2016 meeting with Russians was “treasonous.”

“I do feel bad for President Trump, because today he found out that some Nazis aren’t ‘very fine people,’” Noah said.

Trump faced major backlash over the summer when he said, regarding the white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Va., that there were “very fine people” on “both sides” of the violence. Bannon, who returned to Breitbart News after leaving the White House, has long been connected to the alt-right and white supremacist movements, a connection he now denies.

In the new book, Bannon said there was “zero” chance that the president was not aware of the Trump Tower meeting between his son, Donald Trump Jr., and the group of Russians.

“Steve Bannon, Trump’s dude, not only accused Trump’s second dumbest son of collusion, but he’s also accusing the president of being in on it, and then lying to the American people about it,” Noah said.

“You know what that means, people?” he added. “Buckle up, because Trump’s about to blow!”

Trump, following the release of the excerpts, said his former chief strategist has “lost his mind.” Noah referred to the statement as a “diss track.”

In another quote from the book, Bannon said “they’re going to crack Don Jr. like an egg on national TV.”

“Whoa! Don Jr. is going to ‘crack like an egg?’” Noah said. “Honestly, I don’t even know if that’s a metaphor. Like, I think there’s at least a fifty percent chance you’d find yolk where a brain should be.”
