Cynthia Nixon raises eyebrows with bagel order

New York gubernatorial candidate Cynthia Nixon (D) is drawing attention with her unusual bagel order: a cinnamon raisin bagel with lox, capers and cream cheese.

“That’s what I want — a full load,” Nixon told workers at Zabar’s in Manhattan, Gothamist reported on Monday.

{mosads}Nixon’s order promptly drew comments, and she replied, “Yeah, sweet and salty, you’re right.”

Nixon thanked the man behind the counter for her food and said, “Please vote on Thursday.”

Multiple social media users reacted with horror to the salmon-and-cinnamon combination, though others said they’d heard of it before:

Nixon, a former star of “Sex and the City” and a born and raised New Yorker, defended the bagel herself later Monday evening:

A Democratic socialist, she is facing off against the more moderate Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) in this week’s New York primary.

Cuomo has consistently led Nixon by a wide margin.

A Siena College poll reported Monday that his lead has climbed as high as 41 points.
