Rami Malek delivers pro-immigrant message in Oscars speech

Rami Malek delivered a pro-immigrant message as he picked up an Oscar for Actor in a Leading Role.

The actor — who stars in the film “Bohemian Rhapsody” as Queen singer Freddie Mercury — said at the ceremony on Sunday, “We made a film about a gay man, an immigrant, who lived his life just unapologetically himself.”

“The fact I’m celebrating him and this story with you tonight is proof that we’re longing for stories like this,” Malek, 37, said.

“I am the son of immigrants from Egypt,” Malek continued.

“I’m a first-generation American,” he said.

“Part of my story is being written right now and I could not be more grateful to each and every one of you.”
