‘SNL’ cold open features cast members alongside their moms in honor of Mother’s Day
The “Saturday Night Live” cold open commemorated Mother’s Day by having cast members bring their moms on stage.
The latest “SNL” cold open took a break from poking fun at the news of this week in honor of the holiday on Sunday. Eighteen of the cast members brought their mothers on stage and stood alongside them as they delivered jokes.
Kenan Thompson’s mother expressed some disappointment after being told “SNL” was taking a break from current events, saying, “That’s too bad. I was excited to see who was going to play Stormy Daniels.” Adult film star Stormy Daniels took the stand last week in former President Trump’s hush money trial in Manhattan, where he is charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records.
Andrew Dismukes’ mom brought baby photos of the cast member to share with the audience. Chloe Fineman’s and Bowen Yang’s mothers brought jokes that were intended for the roast of Tom Brady hosted by Netflix last week.
“We are from all over the country, from every side of the political spectrum, but we have one thing in common: We love our children with all our heart,” Yang’s mother said.
“Oh wow. That’s really sweet,” Yang replied before his mom interjected.
“I have a Tom Brady joke too. Tom Brady is so handsome, he should give me a call!” she jokingly said.
Sarah Sherman’s mom even referred to independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., saying a worm ate part of his brain over a decade ago.
“But hey, this is your week to shine…. Well, RFK Jr. Said they found a worm in his brain. You can be the worm!” she said.
